Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using ParaFrames, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use ParaFrames on behalf of a school or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.

2. Who can use ParaFrames

• Consumer users must be 13 or older. We ask your age at sign-up; if you are under 13 you cannot create a consumer account.
• Under-13 students use ParaFrames only through a participating school under a separate agreement with that school. If you are a student, your school’s terms and our agreement with it also apply.
• If you are between 13 and 17, you may use ParaFrames only with your parent’s or guardian’s permission.

3. Your account

Keep your account information accurate and your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@paraframes.org if you believe your account has been used without your permission. Do not share your account or API keys.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use ParaFrames for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive, or to harass, threaten, or exploit anyone;
• attempt to generate sexual content involving minors, violent or dangerous instructions, hateful content, or other material our safety policies prohibit, or try to bypass our content-safety systems;
• use ParaFrames to cheat where prohibited, or to misrepresent AI output as solely your own where that is against the rules that apply to you;
• reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or disrupt the service, or access it by automated means except through interfaces we provide;
• infringe others’ intellectual-property or privacy rights, or upload content you do not have the right to upload.

We use automated content moderation to enforce these rules, especially for minors.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you submit — your messages, uploaded files, and notes. You grant ParaFrames the limited license needed to store, process, and display that content in order to provide the features you request (for example, tutoring, transcription, and your Knowledge Library). You are responsible for the content you submit and for having the rights to it.

6. AI-generated output

ParaFrames uses AI to help you learn. AI output can be wrong or incomplete. It is an educational aid, not professional advice, and not a substitute for a qualified teacher, or for medical, legal, financial, or other professional judgment. Check important information before you rely on it. You are responsible for how you use what ParaFrames produces.

7. Our intellectual property

ParaFrames, including the service, our models and adapters, software, and branding, is owned by us and protected by law. These terms do not give you any right to our name or logo. We welcome feedback and may use it without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

Some optional, opt-in features are powered by third-party providers (for example, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude via Google Cloud Vertex AI). When you use those features, the provider’s handling of the request also applies. These features are not available on the student/education path.

9. Plans & billing

ParaFrames offers a free plan and may offer paid plans with additional features or higher limits. If you buy a paid plan, we will show the price and billing terms before you pay, and you can cancel future renewals. Fees are charged through our payment processor. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change plan features or pricing on a going-forward basis.

10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using ParaFrames and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or our safety policies, or where needed to protect users or the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — continue to apply.

11. Disclaimers

ParaFrames is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ParaFrames will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree to the courts located there for disputes, except where applicable law gives you the right to your local courts.

14. Changes & contact

We may update these terms and will post changes here with a new effective date; significant changes may also be notified in the app. Continuing to use ParaFrames after changes take effect means you accept them. Questions: support@paraframes.org.
